On March 5, 2026, BYD officially hosted the "Second-Generation Blade Battery and Flash Charging Technology Launch Event," introducing a significant leap in electric vehicle power systems. According to Wang Chuanfu, Chairman and President of BYD, the performance metrics for the new battery are unprecedented:

  • Full Capacity Reach: Charge from 10% to 97% in only 9 minutes.

  • Energy Density: The new cells feature an upgrade that increases energy density by 5% compared to the first-generation Blade battery.
